CEDAR FALLS, Iowa, Feb. 11, 2016—The University of Northern Iowa’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Chapter will host an event featuring Karmen Johnson, a public relations expert from Seattle, WA.

UNI PRSSA will fly in Johnson to speak on their behalf. This event will be held on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at 7 p.m. in the Lang Hall Auditorium. Johnson has worked in the public relations and communications industry with multiple Fortune 500 companies. She will cover a variety of topics during her presentation at UNI including; professional tips for obtaining a job after graduation, an insight on how the public relations world is changing, and samples of her previous work.

Anyone interested in hearing from one of the industry’s leaders or to enhance their public relations knowledge, is encouraged to join UNI PRSSA members for this presentation. Trivia questions and the opportunity to win door prizes will also be available throughout the event. Admission is free and open to the public.

Karmen Johnson has more than 20 years of experience working in public relations, corporate communications and creative services. Her diverse career includes in-house communications positions with Starbucks and Expedia, Inc. She also worked in the Seattle, San Francisco and Chicago offices of Edelman, the world’s largest public relations agency. In her role at Edelman, Karmen worked with a myriad of clients to solve communications and marketing challenges ranging from new product introductions to executive transitions to crisis management. Her former client list includes eBay, Kellogg’s, Levi’s and Microsoft Xbox.
