After a brief stint in the short-lived Alliance of American Football (AAF) with the Salt Lake City Stallions, Karter Schult signed a contract with the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday, April 7.

Schult was a former defensive end for UNI (pictured here wearing the #93 jersey). He graduated in the fall of 2016 with degrees in exercise science and family services.

In his time spent with the Stallions, Schult grabbed 7.5 sacks, which ranked him second in the league.

Schult was given the Buck Buchanan award to be recognized as top defensive player, as well as being named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2016. The Tripoli native earned the honors after recording 17 sacks and 24 tackles for loss as a senior.

This is not Schult’s first go-round with the NFL, having spent time with the Vikings last offseason, as well as the Browns and Panthers the year prior.

Schult will be looking to make the final 53-man roster for the first time in his NFL career.
