GBPAC suspends ‘Local Legends: Live from Gallagher Bluedorn’ series

On Wednesday, April 8, the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center (GBPAC) announced that their new online concert streaming series, “Local Legends: Live from Gallagher Bluedorn,” would be suspended until further notice. According to the press release, “The decision was made by the University of Northern Iowa following the Governor’s recent proclamation addressing the closure of theatres that host live performances.”

At 7 p.m. on Monday, April 6, GBPAC kicked off “Local Legends: Live from Gallagher Bluedorn” with a live set from Cedar Falls rock-and-roll band The Snozzberries. Video of their performance can be accessed on GBPAC’s YouTube and Facebook pages.

According to the press release, “The Gallagher Bluedorn hopes to restart local streaming as soon as the restraints are lifted [currently April 30]. At this time, the current schedule of performances will work to be rescheduled.”

Local acts set to be rescheduled for this series include Cedar Valley rock band The Limestoners, electronic jazz fusion band Wave Cage, classical flutist Hannah Porter Occeña, classic rock cover band Checker and the Bluetones and Christopher’s Very Happy. Band., a jazz outfit composed of UNI faculty and alumni.
