On Friday night, Aug. 18, new and returning students alike flocked to the Union to enjoy Maucker Union Live, a late-night UNI Now event.

Live music was provided by Amelia and Vince Gotera of the father-daughter duo “Groovy News.” The elder Gotera, who played electric guitar and sang backup vocals, is a professor in UNI’s languages and literatures department.

Panther eSports set up a gaming room in the basement that boasted a VR headset and popular games such as Super Smash Bros and Fortnite.

From 9 P.M. until midnight, students were able to play games, win prizes, paint pots, sing karaoke, dance Zumba and meet their fellow Panthers.
