The Panthers Track and Field team traveled to Lincoln this Saturday and returned sporting new records including personal bests and improved conference standings.

High ranks in the 400-meter dash came from both men and women Panthers.

Securing a second place time in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 55.79 finish was senior Maddie Beeler, who took first place in the invitational.

On the men’s side, Corey Hertz took second while finishing with 48.29, less than one second from first place.

UNI took both first and third place in the women’s 800-meter run. Junior Brette Correy continued to prove her worth as she advanced to first in the MVC with her first place finish of 2:10.63.

Following just seconds behind her was teammate Ashley Norem with 2:15.13, taking third.

Improving with a personal best in the 3,000-meter run was Kelsey Kirchoff as she placed second with a time of 10:16.96.

Another victory for the Panther women came from Paige Knodle’s 100 meter hurdle time of 13.65. Picking up an extra six team points was Christine MacNeill, crossing the finish line in 14.21 — taking third.

Brandon Carnes took second in the men’s 100-meter dash before notching first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.00, securing the fastest time in the MVC to date this season.

Earning the first-place title in the men’s 4 X 100-meter relay were UNI teammates Tanner Dunkin, Brett McCalla, Evan Long and Brandon Carnes with a combined time of 40.92.

The final first place finish on the men’s side of the invite was junior Shawn Koch with his 14.84-meter triple jump score, which secured his position as second-longest leap in the MVC.

Dividing their time between four competitions next weekend, the UNI track and field team will compete in the Mt. Sac Relays, Tom Botts, Jim Duncan and the Beach Invitationals April 14-16.
