UNI women’s tennis traveled to the University of Minnesota this past weekend, Sept. 16-18. The doubles for UNI had a combined record of 10-8 on the weekend, while the singles went 6-11.

All the doubles were able to find success over the weekend, as all of them were able to win at least one match. Darta Delecka and Lorena Cardoso had a very successful weekend. They started out 3-0, and after losing a match, winning another and then losing their last one, they ended up 4-2 on the weekend. Andrijana Brkic and Thaissa Moreira started out 0-2, but were able to pull out victories in their last two matches to finish the weekend 2-2. Issa Sullivan and Lasya Mylavarapu also went 2-2. Moreira and Mylavarapu went 1-1 and Sulivan and Brkic also went 1-1. This brought the doubles to a solid 10-8 on the weekend.

The singles were not able to put up quite as much success as the doubles did, as Cardoso, Moreira and Sullivan were all unable to come away with victories in their singles matches. All three of them went 0-3. However, there were still a few who were able to come away with some victories. Dalecka went 2-1, losing her first match, but then coming back to win her next two. Mylavarapu went 1-1, losing her first and winning the second, and Brkic had a clean sweep going 3-0. The singles were 6-11 on the weekend all together.

Brkic has been off to a great start in singles this season, as she won the Drake Invite title, and continued her winning ways in Minnesota. She is currently perfect in singles matches, having a total season record of 9-0.

UNI will play next in the Omaha Duals in two weekends on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
