The Panthers added more with a walk from Ava Smithson, a single by Skyora Smith and another walk from Peyton Johnson. Finley Netten and Drew Hinrichs each drew bases-loaded walks to bring in runs, and Brynn Acton added an RBI single to make it 6-1.

The Sycamores scored twice in the second inning, but UNI answered with leadoff walks from Lappe and Callahan before Smith hit the Panthers’ second home run of the game to extend the lead to 9-3. Indiana State added runs in the fifth and sixth innings, but UNI held on for a 9-4 win to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

In the third, Smithson reached on a leadoff single and Smith drew a walk, setting up an RBI infield single to tie the game at 1-1.

The Panthers took the lead later in the inning with a one-out bunt single that brought home Smith. In the fifth, Lappe added insurance with a solo home run to make it 3-1. UNI closed out the game by shutting down Indiana State late to secure the win and complete the doubleheader sweep.

Northern Iowa finished the weekend with another win on Saturday to close out the regular season. Indiana State again scored first in the third inning, using a leadoff single, stolen base and RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. UNI responded quickly, as Hinrichs reached base and scored on a two-run home run by Netten to give the Panthers a 2-1 advantage.

The Panthers continued to build their lead when Callahan singled and later scored on a two-run home run by Smith, making it 4-1. UNI added another run in the fifth inning as Benesh reached third on an error and Lappe drove her in with an RBI groundout.
